I keep encounter this term in some 投資英文 banking materials I'm translating, but thus far have been unable to find a standard translation into English.
I understand it 投資英文 refers to the banks using outside vehicles to engage in investment, and have read a presentation by Liu Mingkang referring to it as "outsourced investment."
A recent Bloomberg article makes reference to "投資英文 entrusted investment" by Chinese banks, however. (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-04-24/china-mar.
Does anyone know which of the two terms - "outsourced investment" or "entrusted investment," might be preferable?

I personally 投資英文 prefer “entrusted investment”.
In my limited experience, “outsource” seems to suggest the outsourced business is not a core business or at least not as important as the other businesses of the outsourcing company. For example, a large stockbroker may have a translation department established to handle translation of documents on stockbroking. Needless to say, translation is a trivial business compared to the stockbroking business of the broker. It may someday elect to “outsource” translation 投資英文 to a company which is primarily engaged in providing language services.
In China, when a bank (commercial bank) appoints an asset manager 投資英文 to conduct investing on its behalf, it is usually not because the bank thinks investing is not an important business. Rather, it is probably because the bank is incapable of achieving satisfactory returns to assets if it conducts direct investment.
